Overheard at my house, but probably not yours

"Dad, Nanny McPhee has too much magic in it! You need to put back in Baby Godzilla right now."
(Alex, age 3)

"Mom, Santa Claus isn't real. If you pray to him, then you don't get the right toys on Christmas Day. St. Nicholas is real. He's in heaven. If you pray to him then you DO get the right toys!" (Hannah, my theologian in training, age 4)

Usurpers of religion for personal gain...

In our family all the little kids new at least a few saint's feast days. You see, we got to stay up later on our namesakes (first and middle) feast days. I was somewhat gipped though- St. Stephen is the day after Christmas- which makes staying up late lose some of it's appeal when you've been awake 36 hours straight! lol
