My 1,000 Post!

Whew! Where did the time go?

I started this blog back when my daughter Maria was seven weeks old. Now she's 3 1/2!

This blog was something fun to do as a new stay-at-home mommy of three. It became a lifeline during my youngest daughter's health crisis last fall.

Many, many thanks to all of my readers.

To celebrate, I've got my first ever blogger give-away. My Cardinal wrote a new book called "The Mass." It's awesome! To win this book, leave a comment describing your favorite place to pray in your domestic church. Winner announced on Valentine's Day.

  1. Hi Abigail, I pray anywhere in my home where I can have quiet time. It could be in the living room first thing in the morning as I drink my coffee, or in my bedroom with my bible, journal and prayer intention book sitting on the bed with me..I pray washing the floor, doing the laundry, or in the warm weather, I have a prayer garden where I sit and pray.
    Congrats on you 1,000th post!
    Love your blog

  2. Congratulations on your 1,000 post :)

My favorite place to pray is in bed, where it is quiet, and comfortable, and the setting is contemplative, but it is also the place where I most frequently nod off in prayer. I also live by Blessed Mother Teresa's quote, "We try and pray through our work by doing it for Jesus."

When I drive into work, I pray the rosary on the drive.

  3. Wow 1000! Congrats!

My favorite place to pray would be in the living room, with my husband and children.

  4. Ok, maybe I don't understand your question right...so I have to answer it twice. My absolute favorite place to pray is in front of the Holy Eucharist exposed, but in case "domestic church" means my house/family, then I would say: in the family room where I can look at the crucifix and the little Our Lady of Grace statue (I think that's what that statue is called).

  5. My favorite place to pray in my home is in my son's room. I also pray throughout the day for assistance in my tasks.

  6. I don't know if it is my favorite place to pray, but the place I pray the most frequently is in my car. I am a mom of four, and I spend lots of time driving them around and that's usually where the rosary and the divine mercy get prayed!

  7. I love to pray in my bedroom. But I do a lot of praying while driving.

i just discovered your blog this month and really enjoy it. I found you through Conversion Diary. I'm considering making the Catholic Church my spiritual home.

  8. My favorite place to pray is a big old blue chair with a hassock for my feet in my sunroom where I can see the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe under my tree outside...

My most effective place to pray is in my bed in the middle of the night when awakened by a little one :-)

  9. I'm like Elisa: I like to pray away from home without the kid.

But in the same vein, when I'm home I prefer to pray on the couch when everybody is asleep in bed so that the house is quiet. It's also the place where I can read my Bible and catechism.

  10. Last Summer I bought a shawl for $5. I keep it on my comfy chair in the living room and I call it my prayer shawl. I wrap myself in it (especially in this cold, cold weather) and pray there. But my favorite place to pray is around a table full of my children and grandchildren, when we all hold hands and give thanks and my heart is full.

  11. Thank you for doing this giveaway.

My favorite place to pray is on the couch with my husband and small daughter. We can see an icon of the Holy Family from where we sit, the rosary box is within reach, and we all fit on the couch!

  12. Congratulations, Abigail!
My prayer corner is in our family living room, which has as its center piece the holy family (or a crucifix w/ our Blessed Mother below).
I sit in the rocking chair my in-laws gave me before our first child was born (for nursing!).
I sit in my prayer chair every morning, usually well before anyone else is awake so I can have silence to meet the Lord in prayer.
    Thank you for your apostolate!

  13. Hmmm... My favorite place to pray is with the whole family (5 kids, ages 4-15, plus dh and I) onthe couch each night, thanking God for all the blessings of the day and asking for help for the next day.
Like mrs. Clara, I'm not catholic, but I am looking into it, and am finding so many wonderful things to consider her and at conversion diary ( which I think is how I found you). Thank you so much for blessing us with your blog!

  14. The view from the sink, looking out the back window watching the birds and beasts eat seeds.

Rushing to school to pick up the boys at 3:00, waiting in the car.

    :-)

  15. My favorite place to pray is my rosary room. It's the girliest room in my house o' boys so it's my retreat.

I have an image of Our Lady of the Roses, and a statue of the Infant of Prague that came from my great aunt along with some other eclectic stuff that means a lot to me like a Norman Rockwell print "Orphan Train" that my Hubby and I stumbled on about a week before we got the first call from the adoption agency about the boy who is now our son.

I think of the Norman Rockwell print as one of God's little sign posts along the way of my life so I thought my prayer room was the best place for it.

  16. My favorite place to pray is kneeling by our bed and in our living room by the Infant of Prague statue. If I win the book, I want to give to either Clara or Carrie who are thinking about coming home to the Catholic Church. As a convert my self from an anglican/evangelical background I love to see people investigating the Church!

  18. My favorite place to pray is in my bed before I get up in the morning. Having asked for help, my day is generally much better and I'm a much nicer person! I also find that if I start my day with prayer, I'm that much more likely to pray throughout the day, which I definitely need.

Thank you for sharing your life and thoughts with us on this blog. It continues to bless me.

  19. I have started praying the rosary while I am exercising. As a mother of 3, that is about the only time that I get total peace and quiet. :)

  22. Oops! Forgot to mention my favorite place to pray. It is early in the morning before anyone is up sitting on the couch in my family room. My second favorite place is in the car.
