How Can You Afford To Have Five Kids?

My husband came up with a creative answer  to this common question this weekend.

Hannah is my hobby.
Alex is my Lexis.
Maria is my bigger house.
Tess is my regular golf weekend with the boys.
Abigail is my fishing boat.

Due to the cross of infertility, not every American family can have five kids. However, its sort of a misnomer to believe that nobody but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie can afford to have five kids.

Worries that I won't be able to afford a third child is what most people cite when they tell me to stop at two. I did the math a while back, and wrote a blog post on it, actually, and came up with about $2000 as the total it has cost me for over two years of clothing, feeding, and transporting 1 (now 2) children. It might be closer to $2100 or so since I did buy $30 worth of second hand maternity clothes this time around.

I LOVE this!!! I'm totally going to use a version of it the next time someone asks me how we can afford 4!

Oh so true. Oh so painfully true. And very well said!

How blessed you are to have such a man! When I said this to my similar-minded husband, he said "yes, and that, tragically, is why it is so unpopular".

We always say that we have decided to invest in people and not things. :)
